New arrivals

I sort of by the theory that fashion can be just a form of inspiration, but only if you're talking about the art that is the runway show, the lookbook, everything to do with the presentation to the world. But when it gets to the point that it's a product, it's frustrating that despite a recession, prices just keep going up. That's why I'm not going to feel sorry for those designers/stores hurting during this time. Everyone is hurting, and if you refuse to make your product more affordable, I'll just keep dreaming and continue to not make purchases.

Tsumori Chisato Button Down Flare Jacket, $747, via La Garconne. This would be such an ideal spring jacket.

plaid fpd
McQ Longsleeve Checked Blouse, $462, via La Garconne.

90169
VPL Safety Loop Capri, $264, via Creatures of Comfort. I love cropped pants, all year round, but especially when I don't have to wear tights underneath. How easy would these be?

Giles & Brother Multi-Chain Bracelet, $112.50, via Gargyle. I would wear this all the time, as if it were a watch. Speaking of watches, check out what my fiance just bought:

He's kind of the man.

Jenni Kayne F/W 2009

1

The styling here is fantastic, and I want to look like this every single day. This is my ideal work wardrobe, because it says powerful in a feminine way. And there are no power shoulders to be seen.

Thank you Nicholas K and Trovata F/W 2009.

Morgane Le Fay F/W 2009

This was one of my favorite collections this season. Wearable and easy but still interesting. You could totally DIY that necklace too. Maybe I'll try it, even if feathers are getting a little old.

Bear Arms

If you work in a big enough office, then you have a 60-year-old co-worker who hasn't bought a new piece of clothing since 1988 that would love these looks. Me, I wish these designers would have left ugly in the past and nixed each of these.

eley_kishimoto
Eley Kishimoto F/W 2009 - your best interview suit.

malandrino2
Catherine Malandrino F/W 2009 - big date? Nothing says sexy like silhouettes on your clothing.

wang
Alexander Wang F/W 2009- or maybe it's a more casual date. In-line roller blading?

custo_barcelona
Custo Barcelona F/W 2009 - how could you deny something so fuzzy??

donna_karan
Donna Karan F/W 2009 - and finally, this suit is definitely hanging in Salvation Armies around the country, minus the fucking BEAR ARMS.

Graeme Black F/W 2009

The flip side to Christian Siriano's collection - Graeme Black's F/W 2009 collection was bold, hard to wear, voluminous, crazy, and still innovative and beautiful. It felt like these pieces in particular were a great addition to the season, and serve as new thoughts in a sea of similarity.

Christian Siriano F/W 2009

14

Christian Siriano's F/W 2009 show was, as expected, one of my least favorite shows this season. Besides being an incredibly boring retread of his past seasons, his clothing is still mostly ugly and often unwearable.

It's hard, because I enjoy watching Project Runway so much! I've watched every season, even of the British and Canadian versions. I want the designers that come out of it to be taken seriously, because the more new faces that get out there, the better in my opinion. And the fewer new faces that get there by the traditional methods, again, the better. Hopefully my favorite designer from that season, Jillian Lewis, will put out something new for F/W 2009, and actually make it available. I would have worn so much from her Project Runway final collection.
